The Streaming Platform is Developing a Far Cry TV Series from the Minds of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The newest Far Cry instalment that players explored was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for embracing violence and insanity with similar enthusiasm, all while presenting captivating, politically driven stories. It’s no surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two visionaries whose projects have exemplified all of those qualities.
About the Series
Based on Ubisoft's successful video game property, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' style by featuring a fresh setting and cast of characters in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also appear in the show, but currently, we do not know what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently renewed for more episodes, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.
“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners constantly supports me with their ongoing trust and backing.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an standalone show. Each game is a variation of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can evolve from year to year, while always delving into the core of society through this intricate and turbulent lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to partner with Rob and present our shared irreverent, visionary style to the television.”
A schedule for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
