Seamer Gus Atkinson Exacerbates the English team's Injury Worries.

'Serious blow' for England after Atkinson leaves the field suffering a hamstring problem.

The English seamer further complicated the injury concerns plaguing England upon exiting the playing area during Saturday's play of the Boxing Day Test against Australia.

Atkinson felt a problem in his left hamstring immediately following a delivery that he bowled during the morning session.

The England team reported the 27-year-old felt some "soreness" and would spend time on the sidelines to undergo evaluation "in the coming hours".

The concluding match in this Ashes battle at the SCG gets underway this coming Sunday.

The visitors have already lost strike bowlers Mark Wood to a knee injury and another paceman to a side strain during this series.

Matthew Fisher was added to the party to provide backup.

His form was underwhelming in the opening two Tests, claiming a mere three wickets.

He was dropped of the third Test, only to be brought back for the Melbourne Test to fill the void.

The county bowler improved at the MCG, taking two wickets in Australia's first innings, and scoring 28 runs while batting being one of only three England players to get into double digits.

Following a brief spell at the end of day one, he came back the next day and dismissed the nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.

Unfortunately, on the final ball of the fifth over, he delivered a variation to Travis Head and suddenly grabbed his left hamstring.

Atkinson returned to the side for the fourth Ashes Test after being left out the previous Test.
