An individual of Australian nationality that leaped over a barricade and touched Hollywood star Ariana Grande has been expelled and barred from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, 26, was given a sentence to nine days in prison for causing a public disturbance and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority told Singaporean press.

The man shoved past photographers and rushed toward the performer and artist, who was attending the Asian debut for Wicked: For Good on November 13. Co-performer Cynthia Erivo wrestled him away from Grande.

He has a background of causing disturbances at events and high-profile gatherings, including jumping on stage at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in June this year.

The event sparked outrage in Singapore, with several individuals saying he of triggering past trauma for the singer.

The pop star has discussed dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a explosive incident at her show in the UK city in May 2017 killed over twenty people and injured hundreds.

In the legal process, the court heard he had attempted to intrude on the red carpet event on two occasions, according to regional reports.

He then made a second attempt to cross the barriers. Event security prevented him and pinned him down.

He then uploaded video clips thanking Grande for permitting his access and said he was "at liberty."

Police detained him the following day and accused him with causing a disturbance, to which the man admitted guilt.

The Court Judge Christopher Goh was quoted by Channel News Asia as saying that he was looking for publicity, commenting that he was wrong to think he would not suffer any consequences.

The actress has not addressed the incident.

The co-star mentioned the situation to the press, saying that she "just wanted to make sure my friend was secure."

"I'm sure he didn't intend us harm, but you cannot be certain with such situations, and I wanted to ensure that she was alright. That was my first instinct," she stated.
