Indianapolis Colts Take On Falcons in Berlin – Week 10 NFL Action
Hello, football enthusiasts. Wie gehts? Alles klar I trust on this excellent morning kickoff to week 10 coming directly from Deutschland. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be exact where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the mighty Indianapolis Colts (seven wins and two losses) face off against the Falcons (3-5). The fifth game played on German soil and the initial in the capital city.
Pregame Highlights
As sparkly jackets go that is an absolute belter from the Olympic figure skater on the coin toss. A slight fluff from the broadcast team there as we hear “which team got the coin flip?” from the commentator with an unfortunately hot mic.
So, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have chosen to get the ball first. The Colts' offense will be setting up shortly. Can the quarterback recover after a difficult performance in Pittsburgh?
Not to be outdone the singer belting out the Star Spangled Banner has some of the biggest shoulder embellishments you are ever likely to see. The fashion picks are impressive today. We are almost underway after a choral number for the German anthem. Elegant.
Opening Period Gameplay
Colts 0-0 Falcons 13:30, 1st quarter
And we're off! And we have early drama after Jonathan Taylor catches a screen pass, gains 15 yards on the outside to the right then fumbles … only for his center to save his bacon with the ball retrieval. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.
Still scoreless at 10:51
And the drama keeps coming as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The gamble fails to pay off as the wide receiver fails to catch a quick pass from the quarterback. On the play before the turnover on downs the Falcons defender put a massive tackle on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. Atlanta's defense started strong as they try and snap their string of three losses. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!
Score Recap
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-0 Falcons 8:36, 1st quarter
Did Kyle Pitts just drop a touchdown? The Falcons player makes a crucial error, he was wide open but the ball just slips through his grasp. That play rather sums up the first round pick’s career to date.
A disappointing start but it only deteriorates for the Falcons as they turn over possession to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard line. The Falcons quarterback is hunted down and fumbles the football.
An agile 22-yard rush from Ashton Dulin sets Jonathan Taylor up to roll in for the score on the following play. Kicker Michael Badgley misses the point after attempt. Mistake.
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-7 Falcons 6:07, 1st quarter
The quarterback recovers from the turnover by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a score of their own. Drake London makes some substantial catches to put them in the red zone then the defense opens up for Tyler Allgeier to saunter on to the goal line through the heart of the field for a 13-yard gain. He completes the drive for a short scoring run of his own. Advantage Atlanta.
