The distinguished British actress Mirren, previously recipient of an Oscar, multiple Bafta awards, three Golden Globes, five Emmy Awards, and a Tony, is poised to receive another major award to her shelf: the Cecil B. DeMille Golden Globe lifetime achievement award.

Ceremony Details

Mirren, 80, previously honored as a dame back in 2003 and honored as a BAFTA fellow back in 2014, will receive the accolade in a ceremony January 8, three days before the primary Globes ceremony are held, during an event billed by the organization as the Golden Eve event.

Also part of the event will be the bestowal of the Globes’ Carol Burnett award for TV work, the honoree for which is still to be revealed. Previous recipients featured Viola Davis and Ted Danson.

“Mirren stands as a powerhouse performer, with a career is truly remarkable,” stated the Golden Globes president, president of the Golden Globes. “Her captivating roles and dedication to acting constantly motivate generations of artists and audiences alike. We are deeply honored to bestow upon her the Cecil B DeMille award.”

Professional Journey

Helen Mirren gained prominence back in the 70s with key roles in theater in London’s theater district and through the Royal Shakespeare Company as well as in movies including O Lucky Man!, Caligula and The Long Good Friday.

Back in the 90s, her starring role in detective drama Prime Suspect expanded her audience even more. Additional notable movies include Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park & Calendar Girls.

She received an Oscar for her performance as Elizabeth II in the 2006 movie The Queen, a part she returned to in 2013 within The Audience, Peter Morgan’s play about the meetings between the queen and prime minister Thatcher, a performance for which she received a Tony Award back in 2015.

• Her performance in the streaming adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club has also been praised with award talk is growing about her portrayal as an ailing family head in Winslet’s initial directorial project, Goodbye June.
• Upcoming, Mirren will be seen portraying Patricia Highsmith in the drama by Anton Corbijn, Switzerland.

Globes nominations will be announced on the eighth of December, with Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, the movie from Chloé Zhao Hamnet and Coogler’s Sinners anticipated to be prominent.
