Battlefield 6 Players Concur: Missions Are Way Too Hard
The debut of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 garnered significant enthusiasm, especially for its premier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, live player figures surged to nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over some of the game's hardest challenges, which are mandatory to access certain guns.
Users have commenced resorting to custom matches made via the custom game tool to complete them, underscoring just how grueling these missions have become.
Grasping BF6 Tasks
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, in contrast to the regularly refreshed everyday and weekly missions. There are four types of assignments, but where most simply offer skins and a few gadgets, finishing the gun missions is the exclusive means of getting a dozen out of forty-one main guns available in the game.
A number of these restricted firearms might eventually find their way on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.
Player Outcry on Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are understandably voicing their concerns about how difficult and grindy some of these challenges are. A particular gamer highlighted one of the most egregious examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
- Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs
"This mission is so terrible and totally unreasonable, I want to tear my hair out," is a quote that summarizes just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many advantages in battle as it had in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.
Meanwhile, using an LMG from the hip is wildly inaccurate and functions solely at extremely close range, which is not usually a position you prefer to be. That player also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that mission would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and conversely.
Another Overly Demanding Mission
A different forum member brought attention to another ridiculously tough challenge, now in the marksman rifle class to access the PSR:
- Get 150 headshot kills beyond 200 meters with marksman guns
This is difficult enough by itself, but there's one more key thing to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at that kind of range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but since there are only nine levels in the game right now, it restricts you to playing one of the larger locales, Mirak Valley, and perhaps an additional option if you're lucky if you want to snipe from beyond 200 meters.
The Workaround
Nevertheless, a method exists: Battlefield Portal. The Battlefield Portal is a system that permits you to design tailored experiences on whatever map you choose, featuring computer-controlled players. This implies you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't exactly feel like the intended gameplay experience.
However, when completing the missions in a standard match seems counterproductive, since you are forced to participate in such an unorthodox manner that offers no advantage to anyone, is it surprising for grinding them out in a custom game so squad members are not disadvantaged?
Potential Changes
It won't come as a surprise if several of these tasks are toned down in the near future, because unless they are modified, some players simply will never acquire the gated weapons.
At the moment, the audience continues to express their views on these demanding battlefield assignments, hoping for a fairer overall gameplay in subsequent patches.
