As he approaches his half-decade plus one year at the helm, Mikel Arteta has made it clear that his continued role with the club is fundamentally dependent to winning major honors.
Reflecting on: Six Years in Charge
The Spanish coach was appointed on 20 December 2019 and promptly led the team to an FA Cup triumph not long after. But, that first major trophy remains his only significant piece of silverware since succeeding Unai Emery.
“I can,” Arteta responded in response to a query about his future past 2027. “Yet it's about today. And many things have to happen in the next few months as well to deserve that opportunity.”
